A modern-language telling of the story of Shakespeare's acting company and the writing of Macbeth. It is a dangerous time in England. There is a new King on the throne who is obsessed with the occult. He is a Protestant King who is tightening the strangle hold on Catholicism, and a plot to take his life was hatched and missed. The conspirators in the Gunpowder Plot are now in prison and the Prime Minister wants Shakespeare to write a play that will present "the official version" of events (read "alternative facts"). Anyone who's seen CST's current season will hear many echoes and snippets of those plays, but everyone will enjoy the intrigue and the uncanny likeness to our present political situation.
