Blackwork embroidery originated during the Renaissance in Europe. It has been enshrined in portraits of Elizabeth 1 with her giant, embroidered sleeves painstakingly painted by Hans Holbein. In this class we will go over the aptly named Holbein stitch, the original methods for stitching, modern solutions to those problems and how to graph your own pattern. Students will leave class with embroidered trim based off patterns provided and their own graphed patterns for future use. CLICK HERE for more information.
